Mountain Fire St Clair

Report problems, or check for issues on a trail you plan to run
Forum rules
Before you post- please search for the trail and see if there's already a thread on it, and if so add your comments to it. If you can't find a thread you started, chances are it got merged with an existing thread about the same trail. Please include the FR (Forest Road) number and/or common nickname (for example, FR3456, Log Corral), and as much detail as possible. TRAL can use this info to plan repairs or report the issues to the responsible agency, and hopefully get the problems resolved!

Mountain Fire St Clair

Post by fumann » Sat Jun 08, 2019 9:07 am

The FS is fighting The Mountain Fire on the Cave Creek District, St Clair Peak area now 6200 acres. Campgrounds and roads to Bartlett and Horseshoe are closed for fire access. This fire has closed Bartlett Dam Road and Horseshoe Dam Road and is running both sides of Horseshoe Dam Road from Bartlett Dam Road to approaching the north end of FR42. Please avoid this area while the firefight is on-going. I've created a quick map on CalTopo of the area as of this morning/updated 2PM https://caltopo.com/m/JJ8C. Check https://inciweb.nwcg.gov for the latest.

INCIWEB Summary: The Mountain Fire was reported just before noon on Friday, June 7, 2019. There are currently 8 Engines and 3 crews fighting the fire, along with air tankers and a helicopters dipping water out of Bartlett Lake. Additional resources have been ordered. The fire is completely on the Tonto National Forest, burning east and northeast toward Bartlett Lake. The Bartlett Dam Road has been closed at the intersection with Cave Creek Road.

All day-use areas and campgrounds near Horseshoe and Bartlett lakes have been closed to allow firefighters to concentrate on containing the fire. Individuals who are currently in the area are being allowed to leave and are being escorted back to Cave Creek Road. Status

As the winds die down this evening, smoke will settle into to valleys and people living near the Tonto National Forest may smell smoke. This is normal overnight airflow and not a cause for concern.

A Type 3 Incident Management Team will be talking over management of the incident Saturday 6/8 at 0600.
