Post by -Spike- » Mon Apr 29, 2019 7:44 pm

We'll be in Cave Creek to do some route inspections.

Meeting Time and Place:
8:00 am at the Cave Creek Ranger Station kiosk on Bartlett Dam Road, 40202 N Cave Creek Rd, Scottsdale, AZ 85262 NOTE- the kiosk is on Bartlett Dam Road, even though the address is on Cave Creek road.

Lunch will be provided for folks who let us know they're coming at least 24 hours before the event start time. Either register on the TRAL Event Calendar or reply to this thread. Please let us know if you plan on bringing guests. Look for the option to add a note if you register on the calendar.

Keep an eye on this thread for the latest updates.

When we decided to put some events up Seven Springs and Sycamore on the calendar, I figured we would be hot, miserable and annoyed, but we really just wanted to get back to work and make up for lost time.

The weather has been nothing short of amazing. Perfect for getting out there and doing some exploring.

Took the approach of just picking off each route we came to, documenting what we saw and adding information in Collector. When possible we would split up, checking everything, including decom and admin routes. Ben got to see a bunch of adobe structures, I found mostly locked gates.

Met back up and ran 1099 together to take in the views for lunch.

Not a bad spot, my feelings about the bumpiness of that route aside.

May not have seen the cool lizard, but we did see a lot of trapdoor spider webs in one spot.

We finished with the area a little early, letting us leave a little for next week when we return to the area. Current high for that day is 83° so that should be a great day.
