Young weekend July 13-15 2018

Post by -Spike- » Sat Jun 16, 2018 4:31 pm

We're hoping to get back up to Young in July, so put this in your calendars. Circumstances beyond our control may affect this run, such as Forest closures and barracks availability, so check back for updates. ANY AND ALL DETAILS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE!

WHEN- July 13-15th (Friday through Sunday)

WHERE- Starting from the city Of Globe, Az. SR188, SR288, FR203 and connectors on up to Young on Friday. Staying in the barracks at the Pleasant Valley Ranger Station in Young, AZ Friday and Saturday nights, returning Sunday. Route inspections on the trips up and back, and possibly doing some exploring in the Young area and/or visiting the McFadden Fire Tower on Saturday.

MEETING TIME AND PLACE-
9am Friday 7-13-18
Fry's Fuel Center
2115 W Highway 60, #200, Miami, AZ 85539

For those that would like to meet us in Young, please find us at the barracks at the Pleasant Valley Ranger Station no later than 9AM on Saturday or Sunday. You can also find us there in the evenings Friday and Saturday, but there's no guarantee what time we'll be there. The barracks are at the end of Barracks Road, see the map link for more details. The road into the Ranger's compound is sometimes chained, contact Ben or Richard via email, text, or phone to make arrangements if you plan on joining us. You can also PM either of us or reply to this thread if you need contact information.

Please register on the TRAL Calendar as early as possible and at least 24 hours prior to the event if you plan to attend so we can make arrangements for food and lodging. You can add notes there if you plan on bringing guests. Barracks rooms are probably limited, sign up to get your place in line for those. First come, first served.

On our last trip TRAL provided breakfasts and lunches, and we ate dinners at The Antlers Restaurant on our own dime, which worked well, so we may do that again.

RICHARD - at the moment Mary & I are planning to drag our trailer up there Fri but will have to leave Sunday early afternoon
Do I need to contact Gary or make any special arrangements to take the trailer up there? Do you know if he has water-electric or sewer dump at the RV sights you say he has?
If you're going up the 288 to Young we'll met youi at Fry's and be part of the parade Friday morning.

We're in contact with the Forest Service about the barracks and how many rooms will be available, stay tuned. Currently we have 4 rooms, but more may get freed up if the Fire guys get redistributed.

Looks like it may be a wet weekend, bring your galoshes!

Hey guys, ran this one up to the wire because of the weather, but unfortunately there will only be four rooms for this trip.

I’m open to discussion about how any of you want to handle the rooms and will be setup to sleep in my truck if necessary.

For meals we will be sticking to the arrangement we used last time. Lunches and breakfasts will be supplied and dinners will be on your own.
