We're going north! This will be one of our trips to Young for the summer season. We are not sure yet if we will have rooms in the Forest Service barracks or not, so camping is a possibility.

We're planning on running from Globe up FR202 and various other routes, doing route inspections along the way. We'll play the return trip by ear.

We'll be up there for 3 days, but folks are welcome to join us for any or all of those days. Note that each day is a separate event on the TRAL calendar, please sign up for each day that you plan to attend.

Meeting spots for the second or third day will be determined as the event approaches if necessary. If no one signs up to join us those days, there won't be a meeting place.

Also, as with any ADAT run, if no one is signed up 24 hours before the trip we may not go to the meeting spots, so make sure you sign up!

Meeting Time and Place:
7-12 9am at the Fry's Fuel Center- 2115 W Highway 60, #200, Miami, AZ 85539
7-13 TBD if necessary
7-14 TBD if necessary

Lunch will be provided for folks who let us know they're coming at least 24 hours before the FIRST DAY's event start time. Either register on the TRAL Event Calendar or reply to this thread (and let us know which day(s) you will attend). Please let us know if you plan on bringing guests. Look for the option to add a note if you register on the calendar.

Keep an eye on this thread for the latest updates.

Well after the previous run’s excitement, it was time to go relax in Young!

A recent decision to make the more popular routes come up for inspection on a yearly basis gives us more options to work our way to Young via dirt (real dirt though, not that dirt highway) and this trip we decided to head in through Cherry Creek Rd.

While Cherry Creek is listed as closed in Travel Management, it’s currently a very popular route and as such we want to make sure it’s safe for those who traverse it until it formally closes after TM.

Plus there’s views like these:

Stopped for lunch at PB cabin. A Globe local has done some work on the joint, including a great fire ring! :smokin:

After lunch Ben and Pres took the last bit of the trail up to Board Tree Saddle before coming back down another route and meeting up with Brad and I on 329. But first we stopped to update the marker and collect an old wooden sign which was pretty beat up, stashing it on Brad’s roof rack to dispose of it properly once in Young.

Taking in the sights, but stopping along the way to fight with a couple markers, then into Young.

Arrived at the barracks a little earlier than Ben and I wanted to, so dropped a couple things off, then headed back out for a couple quick routes.

The first monsoons of the season definitely did not disappoint for views!

Got back to the barracks just in time for Blake to meet up with us, as he wanted to check out the Young area and get some Collector training. Enjoyed a nice evening out on the porch, along with the usual discussion of all the cool stuff out in that part of the Forest.

The next day, we formulated a plan and split into two teams for maximum explorative efficiency. :hillbilly:

Decided to make a quick stop on the way to my routes to show Blake, who rode with me for the day, a taste of what’s up in the Pleasant Valley district.

From there, headed through some patches of private property to get to a couple routes we hadn’t yet inspected. Some of this turned out to be pretty fruitful.
