Cave Creek October 2018 Events - Come Help Us Build The New FR1058 Staging Area - October 28th Event Cancelled

Post by speaker » Tue Oct 09, 2018 2:37 pm

Hi Volunteers, we had another great turnout today for the Cave Creek FR1058 Staging Area project today (October 24th). We finished installing the pipe fence uprights, installed the entry kiosk and pulled all the wire for the 3-wire fence. We have completed almost all the work currently required and the OHV Rangers will finish up the last part over the next week.

We will be cancelling the October 28th work day that we had on the calendar.

Thanks to everyone for your efforts. Our volunteers accomplished in one and a half days what we thought would probably take at least three days!

Hi Volunteers, well it is finally time for Cave Creek project work to start up again this season. After completing most of the work on the Indian Springs staging area last year we are moving on to the construction of a new staging area at the intersection of FR1058 and Horseshoe Dam Road. Both of these projects are funded by an Arizona State Parks grant and need to be completed along with a list of other stuff before we can get the St. Clair area reopened to OHV use.

To help get this staging area project completed we have scheduled three events for October. I have listed the minimum need for volunteers for each event but all are welcome. The work will just move along faster!

Sunday October 21st – Work day to install the pipe rail barrier and entry gate plus laying out the location for the staging area fence and signs/kiosks. Would be great if we had some folks with welding experience come out. We need 5 – 10 volunteers to support this work day.

Wednesday October 24th – Continue work on the barrier and start construction of the 3-wire fence that will bound the staging area. We need 3 – 5 volunteers for this event.

Sunday October 28th – Work day to finish installation of all the barrier fencing. We need 5 – 10 volunteers to complete the planned work.

We will plan some sort of fun run after both of the Sunday events and TRĀL will be providing lunch.

So come on out, get your hands dirty and have some fun improving our OHV recreation experience. Please sign up on the event planning system so we can match the planned work to the number of volunteers coming out to help and plan for food. Also, please check the forum for updates for more details on these events.

We have more events in the planning phase for November and December and January. As soon as we finalize the dates I will get those on the calendar.

Thanks for volunteering!

Steve

Re: THIS WEEKEND! Cave Creek October Events - Come Help Us Build The New FR1058 Staging Area

Hi Volunteers, We have locked in the plan for our first work event on the FR1058 staging area this Sunday, October 21.

Meeting Time is 8:30 in front of the Cave Creek Ranger Station, 40202 N Cave Creek Rd, Scottsdale, AZ 85262. We will caravan out to the staging area which is located at the intersection of FR1058 and Horseshoe Dam Road and get started around 9:00.

Our priority for the day will be installation of the pipe rail barrier and gate at the entrance. Depending on progress we may also work on laying out the fence line for the perimeter of the staging area.

Be sure to wear sturdy shoes and bring your work gloves. The weather forecast shows a small chance of some light showers so probably a good idea to bring a rain jacket. TRAL will provide water and lunch.

Depending on the group's interest for an after event activity we can run some of the trails on the west side of Horseshoe Dam road as they all need to be relocated and inspected or take a run to Devil's Hole to check the conditions there after the rain storm.

Please be sure to sign-up for the event so I can get an accurate count for lunch. I will check the list late tomorrow before buying food.

If you have any questions post a reply on the forum or email me at speak501@cox.net

Thanks!
Steve
