TRAL PROGRAMS INCLUDE:

Public Education

TRĀL sets up informational booths at several types of events including Forest Service events, outdoor shows and on busy weekends at OHV areas.  We pass out brochures and talk to other enthusiasts about responsible OHV use, trails in the area and new things happening in the forest.

Kiosks

We have at least 4 more kiosks we want to install to display maps and educational materials.

Cleanups

Many groups organize and participate in cleanups in the Mesa District.  TRĀL does not intend to manage all of these events.  They have been going pretty well on their own.  We will schedule extra cleanups when needed and will help get the word out when others are scheduled.

Trail Maintenance

Since the Tonto is still in the midst of completing the travel management plan, we are  limited in terms of the trail projects we can take on.  Until all of the "user created" routes, which is most of the mileage in the Mesa district, are designated and added to the official map, we can't do any work on these trails.  We know that there is a lot of work to do on signing and some trail maintenance.  We will start scheduling this work as soon as we are permitted to by the Forest Service.

Fencing

Part of TRĀL's mission is to help conserve our OHV areas.  This means that we need to help the Forest Service keep OHV travel contained to routes that are open.  We help the Forest Service with this by putting up pipe fencing or wire fencing.

Educational Patrols

TRĀL has the mission of educating the public about responsible OHV recreation.  To accomplish this, we will be staring up volunteer educational patrols in the Mesa District.  This activity, like trail maintenance has to wait for the completion of travel management.  Keep watching our site for more about this program.
