Photo Point Program
The Tonto has a program where volunteers travel to various riparian areas around the forest, navigating there by
GPS, to take digital photographs of the vegetation. This information is used by Forest Service biologists to
study how the plant life is doing year after year.
For the volunteer, it's like a treasure hunt. The best part is, while you are enjoying the
recreational activities you love, you are helping the Forest Service gather important information.
If you'd like more information about getting involved in the Photo Point program, contact Kathy Nelson.
