Minutes
11-3-09:
TRĀL Board Meeting
Summary
We have a candidate for treasurer
and he is likely to be elected to that position at the next board meeting. His name is Ken
Refner and he is a long time corporate finance and business operations guy with experience in several
industries.
Mesquite Area - Rod
Jackson
The Rock Stars Motorcycle Club led
by Rod Jackson did a cleanup and brush trimming at the Mesquite Wash parking area on October
31st. There were 7 people and they put in 3 hours.
The new logs that were put in
place to restrict access to the hanging gardens were still there and seemed to be doing their
job.
Pobrecito Project - Rich
Smith
We are ready for another work day out at Pobrecito on the pipe
fence. Rich will work on scheduling a day in the next couple of weeks.
BulldogCanyon -
Patrick Frawley & Bret Marchant
The new road that was formed by the sheep herders has been fenced off.
Patrick contacting Allen Cross to work on some graffiti paint removal.
Bret reported that there is a lot of shooting in Cottonwood
Springs. He will also contact Allen C. about some fence mending.
Updates from Forest Service - Amy
Racki
The Tonto public meetings are
scheduled and are listed on the FS website. The 6 meetings are all the same.
They are open houses with information on all 6 districts. Each district meeting will be more
heavily attended by representatives from that district but with some representation from the other districts and
the Supervisors office.
Volunteer Program Update - Rich
Smith
Unfortunately, the raffle is
off. An organization must have been in existence in AZ for at least 5 years before it can have a
raffle. We'll pursue other fund raising methods.
We are working through getting the
training materials together and are still working toward a pilot class in November although it may move to early
December because of the Thanksgiving holiday week.
Ambassador
Training
We had several people from TRĀL attend the OHV Ambassador orientation training on
October 24th. The training has many elements that we can copy and intend to do
so.
Travel Management
Maps
Amy brought in some of the TM maps including the Mesa district, a blowup of Sycamore
and the Cave Creek district. We spent some time reviewing them in preparation for the
comment period.
