TRĀL MONTHLY MEETING

May 11, 2011

 

 

The meeting was called to order at 7:04 PM by Rich Smith.

 

Area Updates

 

Mesquite – Mesquite looks good.  There has been little traffic in the area, so it’s clean.  The pipe rail is still up.

 

Bulldog – No update this month.

 

Butcher Jones – No update this month.

 

Rolls – No update this month. 

 

Forest Service Update

 

Fire restrictions went in place today across the forest.

 

There have been 11 fires on the Tonto, and all were human caused.

 

A double gate will be installed at Sugarloaf on Monday (5/16), with pipe rails going up by 5/31.  The parking areas will be finished by 6/30.

 

4 Peaks staging will be finished by 6/30.

 

Lower Sycamore entrance will close, and the only entrance will be from Bush Hwy.

 

Travel Management – the environmental assessment will be out in June, and a decision will be made by September on which trails are going to remain open.

 

Game & Fish may install a concrete structure with grates at the 402 Road at Sugarloaf so fish can move downstream.

 

Open Discussion

 

A kiosk installation is scheduled for 5/21 at 7:30 AM at Sugarloaf.  Breakfast will be served after the installation.

 

An End-of-Year event has been preliminarily scheduled for 6/3-5 (Friday – Sunday).
