Patterson, Amy Racki, Dan Scheske, Brian Smith, Rich Smith, Wayne Standage, Jan Thyregod, Kevin
Thompson,
The meeting was called to order at 7:04 PM
by Rich Smith.
Area Updates
Mesquite – David Grunlund reported that the
pipe fence is up and still looks good. Signs are still up, as are the Carsonite markers.
Pobrecito – Pobrecito will be tabled until
after the Travel Management Plan is published and the kid’s riding area can be worked on.
Bulldog East & West – Everything
remains status quo. Trash seems to be being picked up regularly. Over the past 3 months, target
shooting has increased along Trail 10, even though it’s posted as being illegal to shoot in the
area. Amy would like written details of when, where, time, etc. The more
details the better. Unattended bonfires are becoming more frequent, and when they are called in
to the authorities, there is often a slow to no response. The “Closed” signs have been pulled
down and the fence is gone for the gravel pit (Double A).
New
Projects
There will be a Meet & Greet at the 4
Peaks staging area on Saturday morning at 7:00 AM. Breakfast will be served to those volunteers that
come out.
Open Discussion
The “Friends of TRĀL” donation program is
making progress. “Friend of TRĀL” support stickers should arrive on the
13th. We have Rocky Mountain ATV/MC as a sponsor and are working with Cycle
Gear. We need to finish up support from a couple of 4WD sponsors as well.
Training – Amy said there will be more
training available soon. Rich Smith and the Hill family went through the ATV Certification training
this month. Amy suggested that we jump in with the Fire volunteers.
The Honeywell four wheel drive club has
adopted the Sunflower mine trail (25A). The trail needs new signage and markers.
The club also found a washout in the trail from the heavy rains, and was able to bring in rock and fill to rebuild
the trail. There was also some areas identified for the Forest Service’s Engineering department
to design repairs (cattle guard bent).
To date, we have 30
volunteers. If we need to do impromptu training because of a scheduling conflict, we certainly can
accommodate it.
An update from the Treasurer shows that
TRĀL account has $1,700.33 to date.
We need to add a “Where did you hear about
us” button to our web site so we can see if our Meet & Greets are drawing potential members and
volunteers.
Rich will bring stats from our web site to
the next meeting showing what pages are getting the most hits.
Travel Management Update
The Travel Management Plan is moving
towards Draft Final. The map should be published by December 2010 with designated
routes. Comments will either be released or repealed and should be out for public review by the
end of summer. The plan will come with alternatives and proposals, and if no comments are
received on areas, then the proposal will be it.
For areas that we know are going to be
designated as routes, we need to start checking and installing signage. Rich will review the original
maps and get with volunteers to get those routes assigned.
Forest Service Update
There was a confirmed case of rabies found
in a bobcat on the diversion dam of the Salt River.
There was a 6 acre fire that was started by
target shooting. It’s the first of the season.
With no other business to address, the
meeting was adjourned at 8:06 PM
