TRĀL MONTHLY MEETING

February 8, 2012

The meeting was called to order at 7:06 PM by Rich Smith.

TRAL Updates

Pamphlet – The pamphlet has been sent to Yamaha for final approval.

Grant – The grant has been signed and sent to the Forest supervisor.  We hope to have it approved in a few weeks.

Rich will be submitting a proposal to the Forest on naming routes that we know will remain open.

The deadline for commenting on the Environmental Analysis portion of Travel Management was reopened to March 5th.  Individual comments are still needed.

Rich met with the Cave Creek Ranger to talk about the overlapping trails between Mesa and Cave Creek.  The meeting went very well.

TRAL will host a Meet & Greet February 25th at Bush.

REI is sponsoring a clean-up at Sugarloaf on March 10th.

TRAL is scheduled to help install the Hewitt kiosk on the 24th.

Forest Service Update

The road crew is out blading roads, so be careful if you encounter the graders.

Cottonwood Camp is holding up well.

February 18th is the river bottom clean-up at the Lower Salt.

Alan installed “No Parking” signs at Sugarloaf.

Eagle chicks have hatched in the Goldfield area.  They are about 2-1/2 weeks old.

Various agencies are meeting tomorrow to talk about possible fire restrictions for the summer so all the State agencies are on the same page.  With the lack of rain this winter, they are expecting a really low potential for fire.  There has been little growth of vegetation.

With no other business, the meeting was adjourned at 8:06 PM
