TRAL Monthly Meeting 2/9/11

Area Updates

Rolls

The pipe fence that has been at the Butcher Jones entrance to the Rolls is gone.  Someone has pulled it out.

There was a big pallet fire at the base of the big hill off of the Four Peaks road.  It was put out by volunteers.

Bulldog

The road grading was done on many of the roads in the Bulldog area.  This is supposed to be once in 3 years event that has been put off for 10 or more.

There has been lots of pallet burning in Bulldog.  Will need to be cleaned up at some point.

The lock on the Hackmore gate is difficult to open as if someone put glue or something sticky in it.  Bret is going to replace the lock and bring the current one in to Mesa.

Allen will contact Bret about the fence down by the horse gate.

Target shooting is up in the Cottonwood Springs area.

In general, conditions in Bulldog have been good.  Not much litter and people seem to be behaving.

Mesquite

The Mesquite area is in pretty good shape although it’s probably time for a TRAL / Rock Stars cleanup.

Forest Service Updates

The 88 highway has reopened.

In the next 5 months the new gates will be installed.  They will be open normally.

Same status for Travel Management.  Expecting the map by end of year.

Outfitters reported that an un-permitted ATV company is still operating in the Mesa OHV areas.

Amy did Blood Borne Pathogens training for those at the meeting.

The question was asked about whether any of the leftover materials from the ADOT Hwy 87 roadwork will be available for trail improvements in Sycamore.  This had been brought up before the beginning of the 87 project and Art suggested we ask again in February.  Amy will follow up.

We talked about correct emergency numbers to use and it depends on the situation.  Rich and Amy will get a printable PDF list together for publication.

Rich will get Amy a list of volunteer names for the FS to make name tags from.
