Mesquite Wash Update:

ADOT has not set up barricades around bridge yet.

Update: 12-11-10  Fencing has been installed to keep vehicles from crossing underneath the bridge in preparation for construction.

Yamaha Grant:

Grant Approved.  Plan to use to develop Maps for Rolls OHC, Bulldog OHV and designated random roads located throughout sycamore creek area.  Maps to include OHV club logos and TRAL website.

Apache Junction Jamboree:

Rich Smith, Don Covert and Kevin Thompson met with the Apache Junction Chamber of Commerce CEO to discuss ideas for an ATV/Jeep/UTV/dirt bike jamboree to be held in Apache Junction.  AJ Chamber asked TRAL for advice on what could work for AJ and if TRAL volunteers would be willing to assist in the event.    Chari agreed to meet with AJ Chamber to relate her experience.

Archeology Class:

Class was Held at facility near Goldfield Ranch along the Salt River on 12-4-10.  It was well attended and Scott did an excellent job. 

Ideas for future classes:

Riperian Areas, Geology, Watershed, Plants and Wildlife

Meet & Greet:

Is Scheduled for Sunday, 12-12-10, Butcher Jones picnic area from 8 am to Noon.

 

 

 

 

 

 Forest Service Update:

Rescued owl, sent to Liberty Wildlife, died…

African Tortoise discovered by Joe Osuch, reclaimed by Game & Fish.

Planned Closure for Sugar Loaf Jan 24th through 28th.

Gate Project:

Mesquite, Butcher Jones, Wolverine Pass, Sugar Loaf and Pobrecito.

Installation Planned for February to May.

Bronco Club:

Alana and Amy will be out with the Bronco club who adopted FR 11 for a clean up.

While out there they plan to sign the closure of washes leading towards the big mesquite bridge which will be closed for all OHV traffic during construction.

Projects:

Ideas:  Trail Condition Reports, Safety or Damage related.

Top Maps from the Forest Service available.

Target the Rolls Area for GPS inventory of trails and for signing.

Need for the Midweek Crew!

Cottonwood Camp, Boy scout project installing reflectors. January 8th.

A Request was made for a volunteer to help with the Bush Highway Entrance Kiosk.

This rep would oversee and maintain the content placed on the board.

Progress is being made for Goldfield Ranch to be used for ATV & Motorcycle Training Classes.

OHV Host Academy:

Begin to form Volunteer “Patrol” effort. The goal is to be a mobile meet and greet.

January 29th, Plan a OHV Host Academy weekend at the Sunflower Administrative Facility.
